I've asked one question so far, and thought I found the appropriate tags for it (although I had problems with that, too). But one of the answers/comments said, "this should be tagged x". I agree, but I didn't know that tag existed.

So I guess I have two questions: What's the easiest way to find the appropriate tags for your question? And is it possible to add more tags after the question has been posted?

You should be able to edit any part of your own post, including the tag. There's an "edit" link right under your question on that question's page.

As for choosing appropriate tags, best practice is to look around at similar questions, and then take your best shot. It's early days yet, so you can help establish good tags.

(Gene and I are doing occasional retagging when it seems helpful.)

is it possible to add a "see most common tags" button that would give a list of heavily used tags so we can see if any fit when we post a question? – Grumpaluffagus Nov 23 at 22:09

Is it possible for one of us mere mortals to edit/add a tag to a question, or do we have to wait until we reach some special status? – Emily J Nov 24 at 0:15

@Grumpaluffagus, we have no control over that part of the site @Emily J, see the FAQ - you need 500 reputation to retag – Bill Barnes Nov 24 at 9:02
