I'm posting this for a friend, who has been attempting to find this book for years. It was one of her favorites in the evening when she was really little, so the time frame is probably late 80's.

This is a book about a mouse, whose name is George (although my friend admitted she could be wrong). It's a children's book, perhaps even a bath book? It's about a mouse's adventures, at one point he is in a castle. The one line she remembers is that the mouse got to find "a morsel of tasty cheese".

If you can find the name of the book, she would be eternally grateful! Extra points if you can find a place where a copy could be purchased :-)

It could be this. It's got a mouse and a castle in it. Hope it helps!:

"George, the Dragon and the Princess" by Chris Wormell

That's the only thing I could come up with as well. When I read the discription, though, it didn't sound right. – Ryan Feb 2 at 0:04
Nope - published too recently. Sounds like a good book though! – Elfkey Feb 2 at 16:58

It's not There's a mouse about the house! by Richard Fowler? No castle, but a tasty morsel of cheese at the end. In my kid's book you pushed the mouse through slots in the page. They loved it!

This is possible - I will have to check! – Elfkey Feb 3 at 17:43

It reminds me, very vaguely, of "Whose Mouse Are You?", but that's almost certainly not it.

Nope, not quite. This one sounds a little bit traumatic - dad got killed, mom got eaten..Sad! I may have to check it out anyway :-) – Elfkey Feb 3 at 17:42

what about: "Mouse Went Out to Get a Snack"? Hrrm...maybe too new (unless it got republished?)

The "If you give a mouse a..." series might have cheese somewhere (i.e. give a mouse a cookie, a muffin, etc.)

Oh: How about:

George the Little Brown Mouse

Not the "If you give a mouse..." series, and Little Brown Mouse is too recent. Thanks for looking though! – Elfkey Feb 11 at 15:21

Wood, Don.
Title The little mouse, the red ripe strawberry, and the big hungry bear / by Don and Audrey Wood.

Imprint Child's Play, 1996.

Could it be the above. No cheese, but the mouse does guard the strawberry in a knights costume.

Thanks for looking! But there has to be cheese. She's insistent on the line "morsel of tasty cheese". – Elfkey Feb 11 at 15:22

It reminds me of both "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and "Moon Mouse."

Not either, but thanks for looking! – Elfkey Feb 11 at 15:22
