I remember picking this up at my local library when I was in junior high school (so in the late 80's). But I don't think I ever finished it, and can't remember the name of the book OR the author. Any help on either would be appreciated. All I remember about the book was it was about black panther like cats. The cats had golden markings on the face, along where tear lines would be, and I THINK they were telepathic. I want to say it took place in ancient times, or that there was a temple or something in the book, but it's been way too many years. I do remember it reminded me of the Wolfwalker books by Tara K. Harper, only with cats and all. Which is why I picked it up in the first place. Sound familiar to anyone?

This is my THIRD try at answering this! I'm starting to get frustrated, since the Captcha seems to not be working. I'm just going to give up on you all, I swear. The book sounds like The Ghatti's Tale, by Gayle Greeno. People called the Seekers Veritas are bonded, one to one, with giant, intelligent, telepathic cats called Ghatti. It's a series of several books, but I remember only liking the first one. The story follows a woman named Doyce, one of these Seekers, and her bondmate Khar'pern, who are hunting for someone who is killing Seekers. Doyce herself is in danger. Does this sound like the book you're looking for? |

I agree with Windvein, and also want to add the Named series (first one is Ratha's Creature) by Clare Bell. |

Tara K. Harper also wrote Cat Scratch Fever and Cataract - they were more sci-fi/futuristic, though. |
