We have been putting together lists for adults, teens, and children as a response to the crisis in Haiti. We have limited it to titles we own. What books are you recommending to your patrons? We have a mix of emergency and disaster relief titles, and some fiction, along with juvenile titles about Haiti. We have noticed that we don't have much here. We've also done lists of links to resources online, but are lacking in print.

Here are a few booklists that came into my Google Reader today:

Thematic Book List - Earthquakes

Books on Haiti http://missrumphiuseffect.blogspot.com/2010/01/books-on-haiti.html

My guess is that most children's collections are going to have more books on earthquakes, or international relief efforts, than on Haiti itself.

I saw this linked off of the Miss Rumphius page mentioned and passed it on to our selectors. (along with the Rumphius links) Children's and YA Books Set in Haiti mitaliblog.com/2010/01/… – Jen Jan 15 at 14:24

Edwige Danticat's books give a very good feel for the everyday struggles of life in Haiti.

Tracy Kidder's book Mountains beyond Mountains gives an excellent account of one doctor making a difference in Haiti.
